Don't Let Back Pain Dominate Your Life

Back pain is one of our most frequently heard complaints.  Sometimes it is just a constant nagging ache, sometimes it is a excruciating pain that keeps you miserable and bed ridden.

Interestingly, although you feel the pain in your back, its cause often originates in other parts of your body. Dysfunction in your nerves, muscles, bones, joints or other structures in the spine may be at the root of your pain. Likewise, you may think you caused the problem when you put that heavy box in your trunk. But it is very possible that your pain originated years ago from a trauma that barely registered at the time.

Pain medication, at best, only treats symptoms. Often, physical therapy helps and there are situations where surgery is, indeed, the best and only option. I see patients who have searched for relief for years or who have been referred to me by other physicians or surgeons when all else fails.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is a gentle, non-invasive, science-based and inexpensive option that is easily available and should be the first step (and often will be the last) in your pursuit of paint relief.

I will evaluate and diagnose you using a whole-body approach. If the situation requires it, I will order x-rays, MRIs or other tests to help with your diagnosis.  I will suggest referrals when appropriate but, typically. your pain can be resolved or greatly improved with Osteopathic Manipulation.
